Jardin du Luxembourg
in Paris
-->
It is obvious to see that Paris is a beautiful city, but one place that crystallises that fact is the Jardin du Luxembourg. Located right in the heart of the city centre the beautiful gardens are a wonderful place to come and take a time out from the busy Paris life. The gardens hold some great history and were laid out in Italian style on request by Marie de'Medici, hinting at some of the garden's Florentine design. In the 19th century the park was opened to the public and redesigned with more of a French theme, resulting in a beautiful multi theme mixture that will surely have visitors amazed.
Being the second largest park in Paris and located in the heart of the city, it is a very popular place for locals and tourists alike to come and enjoy a delicious French cuisine while taking in the peaceful sights and smells. With the big octagonal pond in the middle of the park, known as the Grand Bassin, it gives the little ones so much to do like renting paddling boats and feeding the ducks. Other attractions include pony rides, a merry go round and a puppet theatre, all there to keep those kids distracted while you admire the beauty of the lawn patterns and beautiful plants.
If you fancy your hand at a game of chess, try out some of the regulars as this park is a hub for park loving chess players and if you need something to quench your thirst you can taste some of the tasty fruit from the orchard. Other great attractions near here are the
Latin Quarter,
The Sorbonne and
Notre Dame.
