When it comes to cycling, the one event that springs to mind is Le Tour de France. The prestigious event is an annual bicycle race held in France that spans over 3 weeks. First held in 1903 cyclists cover more than 3,600 km in this endurance testing race and attracts riders from all over the globe. The race is broken into day segments called stages and the course changes from year to year. The one constant in this great race is the finish line where the race has always finished in Paris. The climax of the final stage at the end of the event is along the Champs Elysees, a fitting way to finish such a battle. The Champs Elysees has been the final destination since 1975 with Parc de Princes also claiming the finish line on previous years. There are few greater sights in sport than lining the beautiful Champs Elysees to witness history as another world beating cyclist finishes his long battle with road and physical strain. If you are in Paris for the month of July this is definitely one to add to the list.
