Never has a cemetery been so interesting along with beautiful and a great place for a romantic walk. This is not an ordinary cemetery but one of the most famous in the world. The Pčre Lachaise Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Paris and has some of the world’s famous names buried here such as Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Chopin, Balzac and many more. It is the most visited cemetery in the world attracting thousands of visitors each year and is also the site of three World War I memorials. Normally you would not associate a cemetery with a romantic walk but the grave is so beautifully laid out with thousands of trees, beautiful plants, rolling hills and winding paths it is easy to see why not only is it a beautiful place to be laid to rest but it is also a nice place to visit.
Known to the Parisians as le cite de morts, or the city of dead, it is an attraction for any visitor to the French capital. There are maps handed out at the entrance and street names so you won’t get lost and you will be able to find any grave that might interest you. Take the time to come here around dusk and watch the sun go down on this beautiful setting. A attraction of Paris not to be missed.
